In the entire Albanian Riviera, the waters of this beach are known to be the purest and most beautiful. It’s the go-to destination for countless tourists every year, as it offers them everything they need for the perfect getaway. 

Let’s jump right into everything you need to know to get the most out of your trip to this marvelous destination. 

There are two ways to reach Jale Beach:

1. By car
2. By bus

#1. By Car

The most convenient way to get to Jale Beach would be by car. The road from Tirana or Vlorë is well-maintained, which makes it accessible by any vehicle. It’s a 4-hour drive from Tirana and a 2-hour drive from Vlorë. 

However, if you’re driving from Himarë though, make sure to have a 4x4, as the road is very rocky in certain places. 

#2. By Bus

Another way to reach this lovely place is to take a bus from Tirana to Vlorë. The journey takes around 3 hours, and tickets can be purchased from the Tirana Bus Station for 13 euros. 

From Vlorë, you can take a regional bus, which costs 4 euros, to Himarë. The journey usually lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes, and tickets can be purchased at the Vlorë Bus Station. 

Once you arrive in Himarë, you can take a taxi to Jale Beach, which takes about 10 minutes and costs around 10 euros. It’s a bit of a pricey trip, but if you have no car, it’s the next best option!

#1. Explore the Hidden Aquarium Bay 

The Hidden Aquarium Bay near Jale Beach in Albania is a picturesque and secluded spot located on the Adriatic Sea. You can get there by heading towards Himarë from Jale Beach. Then you have to get to Dhërmi, and the Aquarium Bay is just 10 minutes away from there. 

The place is pretty private, and the road is more than worth it. It is known for its stunning, crystal-clear waters and diverse marine life. Many consider it a peaceful and tranquil spot to while away the hours and the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Albanian coastline.

#2. Kayak in the Sea

Jale Beach is a popular destination for kayakers as well, as the area is known for its calm waters and stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. 

The beach is also a great spot for experienced kayakers, as there are plenty of challenging rocky outcrops, caves, and other obstacles to navigate. Still, it’s not recommended for beginners to go kayaking in this area, as it is pretty difficult. 

Even if you don’t know how to kayak, you don’t need to worry—you can very well take small boat trips around the area and explore the surroundings. For those who are up to the challenge, there are sea kayaks available for rent, costing around 3 euros per hour.

#3. Visit the Pirates Cave

The Pirates Cave in Jale Beach, Albania, is a popular tourist destination and one of the most visited attractions in the country. Located on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, it’s a natural wonder that's been formed by powerful sea waves over thousands of years. 

Inside the cave, you can explore different chambers and see a variety of stalactites and stalagmites. In addition, the cave is home to a wide range of sea creatures, such as crabs and fish. It’s a great place for snorkeling and exploring the underwater world, and you can get there from Jale Beach by taking a boat tour of the cave. 

#4. Camping at Jale Beach 

If you’re a nature lover, camping near Jale Beach would be the perfect way to enjoy the beautiful scenery and relax. The campsite at Jale Beach offers a variety of amenities to make camping more comfortable—there are showers, toilets, and electricity available. 

If you don’t have a tent, worry not! You can rent one at the campsite, as they come in different sizes. Their prices range from 40 euros to 70 euros, depending on whether you opt for weekend or weekly packages.

#5. Visit Nearby Beaches

Being part of the Albanian Riviera, Jale Beach is located near some of the best beaches in Albania, including:

• Gjipe Beach
• Himarë Beach
• Dhërmi Beach
• Llamani Beach

Amongst all these lovely beaches, Gjipe Beach is the one that typically awakens tourists’ attention. It is surrounded by high cliffs and accessible only by a steep and long hike down the cliffside. The beach is known to have crystal-clear waters and amazing rock formations that make it an idyllic destination for a day of swimming and exploring. 

To get to Gjipe Beach, you will need to take a taxi from Vlorë—the nearest town—to the village of Dhërmi. From there, you will need to hike down the cliffside for around 30 minutes to reach it.

#6. Relax on the beach!

And of course, it’s not called a holiday if you don’t spend the day relaxing and soaking up all the sun rays and the positivity of nature. 

You can easily rent a chair and a beach umbrella and unwind on Albania’s most beautiful beaches. Remember, load up on water and SPF, and learn some basic foreign country food etiquette in Albania, as you’ll be tasting some amazing local specialties!
